Sitah takes a chance.

Post  MajesticHooves on Sat Mar 28, 2009 7:02 am

The handsome chestnut stallion was next to jump, he was ready and standing perfectly still at the starting line. A loud horn blew as a signal to start the event. His owner's heels dug into the stallions ribs and he burst into a graceful canter, heading towards the first jump at 1meter tall. He eyed the jump carefully and with a powerful push from his hind legs, the stallion flung himself into the air and landed at the other side, safely. His owner squeezed his heels into the stallions ribs again, but harder and immediately the stallion started to canter faster. Soon, it was time for the last jump and the lights were dancing around on the chestnut's beautiful coat. It was the last jump, the highest brick wall of all. The stallion was refusing to go any faster, but the owner pushed him by whipping his rump. Soon, the stallion was near galloping, he was 10 meters away from the brick wall, the owner was confident about making it, but the stallion wasn't for he was going to fast to clear it. The wall was coming closer, closer, now it was time to jump. The stallion was tired and sweaty, nor rider or horse saw a loose pole laying in front of the jump. The stallion cantered and tripped over the pole causing him to stumble, he jumped to early, the crowd gasped and hoped for the best he made a quick recovery in time to clear the jump with little difficulty, clear round. They had both won. A small blue ribbon was clipped onto the stallions bridle and it was written in gold writing, '1st place, advanced jumping'. Also, the rider was presented with a large blue banner with neat silver writing which read out, '1st place, Julian and his stallion, Sitah'...

Time for the next round. Starry was waiting at the start line, first up. Her rider was a little nervous, but that was natural. She nudged her horse slightly when the horn went off, and they burst forward into a collected canter. Rider asking her to extend a bit, Starry's long legs covered up the ground easily. First jump- a small oxer, cleared with ease. Starry was starting to think that this was fun, until they came to the fifth fence, a tall upright. Starry pricked her ears forward, and sped towards it. Her rider tried to slow her, but she was going to fast. Fence 5- down. The rest of the round went clear, but Starry knew that it was her fault tey placed 2nd because of the 5th jump. The winner, a smug holsteiner, put his ears back at her as her rider collected the red ribbon.

Sitah's jockey dismounted and lead him out of the arena. Sitah's heart started to skip beats as he saw Starry, he snorted and felt nervous.
