Vision's thought of Victory

Post  ForeverYoung on Wed Mar 18, 2009 4:19 am

Vision trotted eagerly in the warming up circle. The speakers were booming around her. She was jumping on different spots of the ground figuring out where that loud noise was coming from. A jockey mounted her firmly and quickly. She turned around to find that someone was holding her quite firmly. She knew this was a race, but she had no idea it would be so rushed. The man unclipped her lead rope. She knew instantly that she was free to rome. She leapt in the air. Her jockey was confusing her immensely considering he was pulling on the reins, then pressing the legs against her ribs. She reared up in fright and lashed for the other fillies around her. She walked forward calmly knowing that this was no way to behave on her first outing. She saw most horses walking calmly into the so called 'gates'. Others her rearing up attempting to back away, but the humans linked hands to force her in. What a horrible way to tell a horse to do as its told. Vision looked around with her ears pricked. Her jockey urged her forward into the 'gates'. She walked in quite easily. But once the gates banged closed, she got a fright. She reared up in terror, looking at the other horses standing firmly, lifting up their front feet to chip the ground, ready for their start. Vision started to settle as she heard the racing tune. Too many things were happening. What was she being asked to do? All of a sudden, everything went quiet. She looked straight ahead. She saw the lights softly reflecting off the turf. The gates thrashed open, she instantly leaped forward as all the other horses did so. She could feel the jockey pulling her back, but she was not going to let the reins stop her. She was absolutely determined to win this race. She lashed forward and overtook 10 horses. She was currently in the lead. The jockey was doing all he could to save her energy, he did not succeed. She was so pleased with herself 99% sure she was going to win the race. All of a sudden, a horse came sprinting beside her. She was forced into the rail. All she could hear was the beat of the horses hooves and the shout of two men. Everything went blank. She could not hear anything until she hit the ground with an incredible force. She saw her jockey flying in front of her. Horses had run over her, she was laying lifeless on the track. Again, everyone was silent. She attempted to get up, but there was something pulling her down. She suddenly felt a burst of pain throughout her whole body. She cried out in agony, as any human would have done. The jockey was laying still, not making any movements. Vision had given up trying to get up, but she did manage to get the last glimpse of her jockey, who was carried away, covered by black plastic, on a stretcher carried by two men. Vision lay her head down as at least 4 men tended to her,

Shivers ran though her body and down her legs, her heart beat quickened and crowds cheared. She danced, this was it, this was racing. Eager to show off for she was bred of royality Aphroditie pulled at the leads of her grooms. They were no match for her, the feeble two legged things. Though her mouth burned from the bit she cared not, this was her place and time. Her head came higher, she reard slightly with her ears pinned back, her grooms were pulled off her feet as they tried to guide her to the starting gate.
Her eyes blazed, and her teeth ground together. "Show me this track, for I embrace it as I would a lover." She thought. Her anger boilled over and over as she looked at the other horses. "mear mortals" she sneered. For none could be so well bred as herself, none so fine. They would learn, she was a goddes among them. The track as a song only she could hear and they would love her and hate her as was right that they should.
She yelled and struck at the gate handlers, her teeth flashing white and her hoof like fast iron. She reared and tossed her head, it didn't matter that she hurt her self, only let her out.
She came down and finaly stood still, the song.....it was there calling her down the track and she would follow. There was the buzz and before her the restraining bars of the gate flew away, she was free to run!
Her body that was toned and built for this lept in joy as she bolted out of the starting gate, each strider longer and faster then the last. There was a rush, and she hated these other mare and geldlings, they were lessers and only got in her way. She was blind and feelingless to the pulls of her rider, or the harsh stink of his whip. He knew her not, this was her time, her NOW and she would snow him who owned who.
She saw the seconded turn and this she knew was where she would leave them all behind, the inside rail was full, in deed it looked like a death trap. She took to the out side rail, she was a goddes and didn't need the inside, her legs were warm and loose and she made her move, each long powerful stride carring her futher and futher to the lead.
Just as she started to take the lead she watched another mare fall and dissapear beneight the hooves of the other horses. She snorted in distain....how dare she show her weak self on this trakc for royals. Aphroditie lunged to the lead, she heard not the ohter horse cry out in pain nore did she care.
A few more strides and she would be campion....
Time and all else went away, there was only this open, this track this now. Her heart lept as she flew well in the lead ahead of the others. She did hear the crows, gasping for the falln horse and more of the crowd chearing for a new chamion. With her head held hgih, grooms holding on to her as best they could again and her worhless jockey atop her back she entered the winners ring where her picture was tanken manymany times over.
This she decided was all she ever wanted to do or be.
She had compleatly forgotten about the poor mare who fell and was run down...
